- However, they are not allowed to opt for IPS option at the time of filling application form.
One-Time Improvement Rule
This attempt is linked to the training exemption. If a candidate is appointed as an IPS or any “Group A” central service:
- UPSC allows one improvement attempt in CSE 2027.
- Only valid using a One-Time Training Exemption.
- One-time facility only.
- After availing a One-Time Improvement attempt, an aspirant can not sit in UPSC CSE 2028 unless he or she resigns from service.
If CSE 2026 Selectee neither joins nor takes the training Exemption
- CSE 2026 allocation will be considered as cancelled.
Aspirant appearing in UPSC CSE 2027 after taking an exemption
- Can obtain better service in CSE 2027. Aspirants will get the privilege to choose between 2026-2027.
- Other services will get cancelled automatically.
If an aspirant doesn’t get any service in UPSC CSE 2027
- UPSC allows aspirants to go back and join the CSE 2026 allocated service.
If an aspirant does not join the training of the final chosen service (2026-2027)
- Both allocations get cancelled automatically.
Step-By-Step Process to Fill UPSC Application Form 2026
Step 1: Create New Account
Visit the official website of UPSC (https://upsc.gov.in/apply-online). Register for a new account by filling in the mandatory fields. Complete with valid information.
Step 2: URN (Universal Registration Number) Generation
After registration, you need to complete Universal Number Module.
- After completing the process, a URN is generated.
- URN is permanent and remain same for all future UPSC exams.
